#30 Adulting to the Fullest

Hello folks,

***I have had trouble putting my words together this week. I wanted to post but my blogs were all over the place. Still, I came up with this topic, Adulting.

Whose READY FOR AVENGERS: END GAME????? I AM!!!

About twenty-two movies later, and we are finally at the End Game.

Adulting means “the practice of behaving in the characteristic of a responsible adult, especially the accomplishment of mundane but necessary tasks.” (Google Search)

I will be twenty-seven very soon and I feel like all my friends are moving toward this new stage in their life, which some might call adulting to the fullest.

One of my coworkers let me know that he is looking to find a partner now that could possibly be his wife. He is hoping his current girlfriend fits that criteria.

I have heard this from many people.

It’s like everyone feels the need to be wifed up or hubbied up by the time they hit their late twenties.

There is nothing wrong with this but are you doing it for the right reasons and not simply because you are trying to measure up to this standard that society has brought upon us.

Get married, have kids and a career by the time your thirty.

If you’re not there, then your considered some type of lost soul.

Even hairstyles are judged by the time you hit your late twenties. Your suppose to have shorter hair because you’re older.

Your outfits should be more sophisticated.

Your make up should be on point.

You should be living on your own by now.

EXPECTATIONS.

All these expectations are depressing.

Who are we doing all of this for?

DON’T GET ME WRONG.

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH GETTING MARRIED, HAVING KIDS, A CAREER, HAVING SHORT HAIR OR WEARING MAKE UP.

THIS IS NOT THE POINT.

The point is are we doing it for our happiness or to make others think we’re happy?

What’s wrong with waiting till you find the right person? Why rush into something.

What’s wrong with living with your family if that means your saving your money for a better future. I am sure most parents enjoy the company.

Unfortunately, we are all under the spell of society. Even me. My obsession with success is unhealthy and I don’t know how to enjoy life. There is nothing wrong with trying to be successful but obsession is bad for you. Getting depressed because you are not where you want to be is wrong. As long as your working towards your goals in a healthy matter.

It is really hard to live a life for just yourself?

There is just so much pressure on a person.

Parents and family don’t help either. All they do is set a standard they want their children to meet.

Now with the Kardashians and Jenners setting the standard for beauty…teens will want to meet up to their standards.

I had a co-worker that idolized Kylie Jenner. She was twenty years old and would come in with different hair colors or wigs all the time. Her nails were long and fake. Her face was always all done up. She wore similar styles to Kylie. One day I noticed and said, “Hey, you look like Kylie Jenner.”

Immediately, she gushed and said, “OMG I love her. She is the most beautiful woman in the world. I am literally obsessed with her.”

I still follow her on social media. She has not changed. She has gotten worse.

What kind of life would you be living if there were no expectations?
