I was never a huge basketball fan but I did watch basketball growing up. My four brothers were super into basketball and I was there with them. We collected basketball cards and had our own basket ball games.
We didn’t have much growing up and one of the most exciting things for us was watching the Laker games. I remember watching the Lakers against the Indian Pacers, 76ers, Sacramento Kings and so on. I remember Kobe running around the court after be shot a three pointer. Jumping up in the air and I remember calling him a show off. I was never a big fan of Kobe but I always watched the Laker games. I loved hating on him so I can piss off my brothers. We would order pizza and have chips and we would watch the games.
It was some of the best memories of my childhood. Sometimes we would go over my cousins house and watch the games there.
The Shaq and Kobe combo was always exciting. They made the game fun.
When he retired, it was also sad. No one wanted to stop watching Kobe.
It’s a devastating day in LA. He was a hero for so many young people.
On Sunday morning I always like to wake up early. Today, I slept till 10:40am. I woke up at 9:30am because I heard a car leave. But, I fell back asleep till 10:40am. For that one hour I dreamt about Yama, my brother that passed away. It was so strange. We use to watch the games with him.
I have no words. And I can’t even begin to comprehend how sad his family must be feeling. The fact that his daughter passed away is even more devastating. It is a sad day Los Angeles.
Rest In Peace.
